Let Them Eat Health Care

It's been a policy of Planet Buddha to keep the fuck away from politics, but we might as well lift it once and for all, and dabble a little in the whorl of flotsam-jetsam history in the making, then retract again to quietude until the next political post. After all, politics are ideology-based, as are religions; we post about religions here, so why not politics? The difference between religion and quasi-religion is the prefix 'quasi-'; zealots and fundies are found in all human ideological spectra (including science).

So the futile presidential debates were yesterday, and though I've heard that M.R. had told 27 lies in 38 minutes, all in all I don't have much faith that the Average Joe Public would know the difference between semantically spun lies and outright bullshit. I don't believe such debates have ever made a difference to sway public opinion, because look at what happened with the W. vs. Gore debate. Gore was jawdrop astounded at the chimp-level of his opponent's replies, you would've thought people could see that it was a clear win for Gore, but look what happened.

Public debates don't mean a thing, but it's the stuff said off the cuff that can reveal more about a politician/candidate (or anyone, for that matter). And in the video below, M.R. says that 47% of voters are Obama-ites "no matter what" as they're people
“. . . who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax ... My job is not to worry about those people ... I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”
His Reptilian social-Darwinist ideology is blatantly obvious, and perhaps self-deception (giving him the benefit of the doubt?) in believing that the wealthy are wealthy solely because they worked harder than the next person, and earned every penny. Without any entitlement. At all. And of course, the idea of christian charity for the poor is just a bunch of horseshit, because you can't have that kind of ungodly evil perpetuated by a liberal government, because this is America, and in America, people don't give or accept charity. Because if you accept governmental charity, you've got to be a socialist, and all socialists go to hell in a handbasket (notwithstanding the fact that 'socialism' is just a straw-man label). That's what Republican Jesus says, so we must obey. But what about the Mormon god, what does He say?
"Wo [sic] unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed; To turn away the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless! And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?" (Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 20:1-3)
I don't know, but I feel I see more people hobbling around a lot now, more than ever before. Because so many people are out of work, and cannot afford health care. They just can't afford it, and they worked their asses off. They got laid off because the work went to China and wherever the fuck else, everywhere but here in America.  They're getting sicker because they can't afford healthy food. We're America goddamnit, but no, the people don't matter (except as consumers), because they aren't the movers and shakers that make any economic difference on the globe. The serfs are a dime a dozen. They're called victims, and M.R. nailed that one to the cross, I mean, on the head, they need to take personal responsibility and care for their lives, because there should, ideally, be no help that should be given them, not even of basic human needs like health care (and food and housing). They need to be punished for their poverty and bad luck.  Let them hit the bricks.

But even a simpleton might know this, except perhaps the Tea Party folk, that if the amount of wealth people have is proportionate to how hard they've worked, then the so-called "illegal" humans, teachers, single mothers, paramedics, fire fighters, soldiers, factory workers, construction workers, janitors, and all blue collar workers should be multi-millionaires by now.
